The programs, which combine fun fitness activities with emotional support, are an important part of the ongoing healing process for women living with and surviving cancer. Activities range from Tai Chi, Dragon Boating and yoga to triathlons and marathons. They require no commitment of time and are free to participants. Survivors are encouraged to participate at their current level of fitness and can join TSNF after their medical release forms are signed and submitted. Guided Meditation Class for Cancer Patients

Evidence-based research has shown Reiki therapy promotes relaxation, a sense of well-being, reduction in anxiety, relief from pain, and improves quality of sleep. In my own experience in private practice,
patients receiving Reiki therapy integrated with various cancer treatments have reported significant pain relief, relief from nausea, headaches and neuropathy, as well as improved quality and quantity of sleep. To schedule an initial visit, please call 386-853-0162.

A Guided Meditation class is now scheduled on Tuesdays at noon at the Cancer Center of North Florida Regional in a room just off the lobby (to the right as you enter), called the “Health & Healing Place.”
The Cancer Center is a stand-alone building on the northeast corner of the hospital. It sits north of the Medical Arts building, and shares a free-parking garage with the Medical Arts Building. Additional parking for the Cancer Center is outside, and you are able to park there if you prefer.

Gainesville Health & Fitness Cancer Recovery Program

Our free 4-week program is designed specifically for those newer to exercise or those looking for a gentle, supportive way to feel like themselves again. We focus on making you feel comfortable from day one, helping you find success in small wins, and building the confidence to live a more active life.

Your Path to Feeling Better:

  1. The Personal Consultation: Meet one-on-one with a GHF Fitness Specialist to map out a 4-week plan that respects your restrictions and honors your pace.
  2. A Gentle Start: Progress gradually through a mix of strength training, cardio, and soothing pool, stretch, and Tai Chi classes tailored to your current capacity.
  3. The Recovery Suite: Ease treatment-related aches in our sauna, steam room, and warm therapy pool, or find refreshment in the cold pool.
  4. Weekly Support: Stay encouraged with weekly check-ins to adjust your plan as you get stronger.

Don’t let treatment-related fatigue define your days. Rebuild your strength, experience a renewed sense of empowerment, and discover what your body is capable of in a welcoming environment. Contact Debbie Lee at 352.692.2115 or Debbie.Lee@ghfc.com to get started.
